The Cammeray store is situated in
an open air shopping mall and was first visited for a girls’ lunch. We’d missed
out on trying the breakfast menu due to the time of day, but the “Grilled ham
& cheese” served with side salad offers the same satisfaction as a croque
monsieur. The chicken “Soup of the day” is on the oily side but full of flavour,
while the “Spinach & fetta filo” is light and flaky.
Working our way upwards from the
bottom, the middle tier is where we admitted defeat even with the refreshing
wedges of green apple acting as palate cleansers. We finish our tea and coffee
respectively included with the set for each of us, but we are most thankful
that Simmone Logue’s famous cakes – a flourless chocolate cake with
raspberries, a pink-iced cupcake and a carrot and walnut cake with cream cheese
frosting in this case – are able to be packaged up and taken away to be
devoured at a later time.

Wow - didn't know there were cafes..! I've tried the catering food, which is just gorgeous. And no scones with high tea!
ReplyDeleteSimmone Logue's flourless chocolate cake is TDF! I had so many when she used to have a shop in Balmain. Love your photos, by the way.
ReplyDeletethat tart looks so good! seems much better than your typical sandwiches to be honest!
ReplyDeletetea, cakes, pastries... what not to love.
ReplyDeleteThe pumpkin and feta tart looks really quite filling by itself!
ReplyDeletethat's so cheap! possibly the cheapest place for high tea with no scones :P i love their hummingbird cake!
ReplyDeleteI would have been slightly disappointed by the lack of cucumber sandwiches (they're my favourite!), but the tart would be an interesting alternative.
ReplyDeleteOur cafe/canteen at work doesn't do much well, but they do buy in Simmone Logue cakes. Many an afternoon has been made more bearable, thanks to that!
ReplyDeleteThis looks too good! I'm on the website now. Going to book in for some afternoon tea :)
ReplyDelete$22 must be the cheapest high tea in NSW! im a sucker for everything on a pretty tier.
ReplyDeleteThat all looks amazing. and I would so go back for the high tea set!
ReplyDeletelovely high tea platter there! decently priced for high tea too :)
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty good value for $22. Love how you brought some home for some evening scoffing!
ReplyDeleteThis is right near where I live and shop! I am addicted (I'll say it twice: addicted)to the bannana cake there.
