Granted
the weather has taken a cool turn with light drizzle all day, but far from
cold, and hardly reason enough to avoid venturing out. Especially when there is
a ‘Champagne chocolate marquise’ on offer served with crème anglaise and
crushed pistachios. Layered and mousse-like on a thin chocolate base, the
combined flavour is that of Sara Lee chocolate pound cake but in creamier form.
The anglaise is rich in vanilla seeds and neither thick nor gluggy, while the
pistachios provide texture.
Apparently
the night before they’d had one pre-reserved table and 25 walk-ins, while on
the Saturday we were the only ones there all
night. Go on, Sydney, get out there and eat!

eating!
Really? You were the only ones there? That's really odd!
ReplyDeleteYeah how bizarre that you guys were the only ones and on a Saturday night too! Looks decadent though
ReplyDeleteThe only ones there? Ouch. The Sydney dining scene is too competitive.
ReplyDeleteMaybe it was only the start of sugar hit? but its such a sexy looking cake! how can you say no!
ReplyDeletePoor Sheraton. I'll be there over the weekend - but upstairs gorging over the buffet instead :(
ReplyDeleteI've got 4pm sugar cravings coming on. I wish I could reach out and grab this. Maybe I should just go to the Sheraton!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe that it was so dead on a Saturday night! Oh wow, things are dire in the hospitality industry at the moment. I agree, come on Sydney!
ReplyDeleteWow I remember when Sugar Hits were crazy popular and finding anywhere that wasn't booked was a struggle!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you were in some kind of Champagne chocolate marquise time warp! I can't believe there was nobody else there. The Crave program is just so big now, maybe everyone is spread too thin. Hope they gave you an extra large serving!
ReplyDeleteMy oh my this makes my resolution the other into the bin. Love to have this in my to-eat list. :D Got my eye on your next posts.
ReplyDeleteglad to see some sydneysiders about! loving your blog. xx
ReplyDeleteOh that is such a shame!! I can't imagine why people would stay away from dessert as yummy as this!!
